West Baden Springs Hotel is one of the top 15 luxury hotels in the
United States today. Built in 1902, it embodies the entire 20th
century experience, from its days as the favorite escape location
of Al Capone to its 30-year existence as a Jesuit seminary known as
West Baden College. As a spa, it is famous for its Pluto water, a
cleansing mineral water still sold worldwide. In this fictional
novel set in the 1940s, West Baden Springs Hotel becomes "Pluto
Springs," the battleground between good and evil, as Father
Thaddeus Merder, rector of the college, faces grim odds in his
quest to save his college and his soul. As the action builds, local
and state police, with the assistance of an investigative reporter
from The Chicago Tribune, attempt to keep up with harrowing events
that seem to happen non-stop.
