The Need For Crisis (Paperback)

Responding to environmental problems is becoming an increasing priority of the world's population. As the developed world has pushed the boundaries of economic development, it is also principally responsible for many global environmental issues. Sustainable development has emerged as a potential solution to these problems, but is often so vague in definition, it provides little help. How then are we to affect change on environmental issues? This book seeks to answer such a question through a comparative case study, examining the differences between Canadian and German approaches to climate change and material waste disposal policy. The project works through the sustainable development literature and utilizes The Natural Step framework to make policy recommendations. It is the goal of this book to provide policymakers, interest groups and citizens alike with tools to improve the state of the environment everywhere.
