This work is primarily a technical guide to the design and production of solar installations in regions where heating is an issue of upmost importance. A climate is defined as cold when the average annual temperature is lower than 10 degrees Celsius, and becomes severe if temperatures become extreme or vary significantly over the day or over the year. This affects about half the populations of developing countries.
