The authors provide a description of how advances in geosciences are improving our understanding of our natural environment. They also provide diagnosis of many of the problems using accurate data and carefully planned development projects to ensure the intelligent use of the resources available without their destruction. The book examines all characteristics of the environment and how they interact. It is divided into two parts; part one examines the natural environment from the ecogeographer's point of view. Part two looks at ways to improve and manage the countryside. It also looks at pedogenic, hydrolic and morphogenic processes, and includes the late Quartenary geomorphic legacies.
