The newspaper covers regional news from Vasterbotten, especially Umea, in combination with national news and international news. During the last twenty years the newspaper has been one of the two, three biggest newspapers in Norrland (the northern part of Sweden). 2008 the number of subscribers were 37 100. Since 1937 the newspaper annually honor the best sportsman or sportswoman from Vasterbotten with the so called VK-priset. Among the prizewinners are Ingemar Stenmark, Anja Parson, Marta Vieira da Silva and Assar Ronnlund.
