We do not choose our brothers and sisters in nature; they are chosen for us. And though we dwell not together in unity, yet this annuls not the mutual relationship. It still exists; yea, it is the most powerful witness against domestic discord. So it is in grace. The God who hath chosen us in Christ, hath chosen for us our fellow members. We may disown or evil entreat each other, but still the tie between us remains. We cannot sever it. And it exists to shame us, for all that is unworthy of it." The writer further observes: --" Because then there is unity in Christ, the Head, there ought to be union visible and palpable to the world among the members." There ought to be, but there is not. We believe the most likely means to bring it about, is a deeper knowledge of Christ, and a richer experience of our union to Him. If we had more of his mind, more of his heart, we should love one another, as he loves us, in spite of all our defects and mistakes, and then the manifestation of our love would be practical, not in word, nor in tongue, but in deed and in truth. SECTION VIH. Concluding Appeal, And Remarks. Is the reader experimentally acquainted with this great subject of union to Christ? Docs Christ, dear friend, dwell in your heart by faith? Do you dwell in love, and dwell in God, and God in you? An old writer observes: --" that millions in the professing Church, miscarry for want of union to Christ."
