So Close to Eternity - In the Beginning... (Paperback)

I was born in Lwow, Poland, in 1935 to a wealthy family. When Germany attacked Poland in 1935 from the west, Russia attacked from the east and split Poland in half. My family and I fled the Russian occupied side of Poland to the German side. In time we wound up in a concentration camp. As a result of unusual circumstances, we were released from the camp and had near-death experiences. We spent the remaining war years living in a barn in back of a farmhouse. My father worked for a British spy system with many secret missions. The whole family arrived in America with two suitcases and very little money but full of ambition. After some schooling, I joined my father in a sewing machine business, making improvements, and had three children. I tried very hard for success, but my marriage failed after nine years. One year later I married a woman with two children and we had a child together, making it a family of six children. I owned my own sewing machine business, and my wife, Marge, managed the retail part. We were successful and I decided to retire at age fifty-five, travel and enjoy life. We now live in a Florida resort. We have many good friends, our health is good and we are very happy.
