He met his wife of sixty-three years following not just one but two forced landings. He was one of the first Civilian Pilot Training instructors. He was a pilot with Trans World Airlines for thirty-two years and tells of pioneering flights. John spent thirty-seven years racing planes, becoming President of the Professional Race Pilots Association. He built his own airport and refurbished antique planes.
