VAN SYCKLIN, whose first name has not been ascertained, married Margrietje (Margaret), a French lady, by whom he had four children--one son and three daughters; namely, I. Anna; II. Mary; III. Elizabeth; and IV. Peter. He died about the year 1754. His wife, Margaret, survived him about five years. His two youngest daughters, Mary and Elizabeth, are said to have married, and removed to the State of Virginia, after which nothing is known of their history. It is thought by some that his first name was Rynear, but that cannot be, as he had a brother by that name. It is more probable that his name was Peter, as it was customary in olden times to name one son after the father; and his only son was named Peter. His name might possibly have been Ferdinandus. It is said that this Van Sickle had two brothers and one sister; namely, John, Rynear, and Elizabeth. ' Second
