At this crisis . perhaps the dean did not chuse to resume a character which was become obnoxious, and therefore wrote in his own: the originalwas signed -with his name, tho' it appeared to have been obliterated by another hand: for some reason the publication of it was delayed, and it was sirst printed in an edition of the dean's works published at Dublin in I7;y. This however is not the only reason why it is placed after the sifth letter, sor the sifth/ letter appears to have been substituted in its stead, and not intendr ed to follo-w it. The fourth letter, both in this and in the sifthis called the last, which could not have happened if both had been parts of the fame series. The reader will now easily account for thofc paflages in the* sixth, by which the prosecution against Harding appeals to be defending, tho' in the sifth.it is mentioned as past.J My Lord, .
