After the Storm of WWII (Paperback)

After graduating from Friendsville Academy in Tennessee and a horrendous fi rst year at Maryville College, I joined the Army and served two years with the 11th Airborne Division and a year with the 82nd Airborne Division. I then earned my Bachelors degree at Maryville College and my Masters degree at Ball State University. Now I am retired from having taught in the public schools for more than thirty years.
My name is James Gordon Sanborn, Jr., born in Shanghai, China in 1932. My father was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. My mother was born in Soochow, China. Before going to China, Dad worked for the Acme Evans Flour Mill of Indianapolis, Indiana. He was sent to China to build flour mills. along the way, he met and married my mother. Evidently, Dad planned to stay in China when he built a Spanish type bungalow on the outskirts of Shanghai. We had several servants that lived on our compound. Our cook created dishes of both Chinese and American cuisines. I don't think Mom ever learned to cook. A gardener took care of the grounds and a Chauffeur took us to school and drove Dad to work. Of course my sister and I had an Amah who took care of us. The Chinese and Japanese war changed our lives forever.
