Caretaker's Song completes the trilogy begun with Kailie's Song and continued in Fire Song. The people of Timis are hard-pressed to deal with the aftermath of war and an influx of desperate immigrants from neighboring Arland. Unless problems caused by the hopelessness and despair of poverty can be solved, war once again threatens. The dragons of legend are threatened, too, with a token possessed by Gadred Aember which encapsulates their essence and the evil of the Abyss.
