Dear Dad - Life Through the Eyes of an Adult Child of Alcoholic (Paperback)

Growing up with an alcoholic father, Kelly Phillips Bookamer harbored feelings of anger, confusion, and depression. Dear Dad reflects the inner turmoil that consumed Kelly for much of her life. Following her father's painful death, Kelly came to realize that she was not alone, and that she could control her own destiny. Her collection of poems documents her life as an Adult Child of an Alcoholic. Her work contains a message of hope and encouragement to other ACOAs, that even in the face of depression, everything will be okay. It is the poetry of her soul, the words of her spirit, the story of her life, as she struggles to come to terms with the reality of her troubled childhood. About the author: Kelly Phillips Bookamer was born and raised in Quogue, New York. She has a Master's Degree in Special Education, and teaches at the elementary level. She currently resides in eastern Long Island with her husband, two-year-old son, and their dog. Kelly has been writing poetry for as long as she can remember. It has always been a release for her. At the persuasion of family and friends, and following the death of her father, she finally decided to write this book.
