When in need of their assistance, T'Challa (Black Panther) calls them in to aid him in battle. They are first seen coming into battle with Gen. Jakarra, a despot who sought to take over Wakanda from T'Challa. Part of his plan was to expose himself to raw vibranium to gain powers, but his exposure resulted in him becoming a monster. Four individual members of the Wakandan royal family answered the call to arms when Jakarra attacked and these four would become the Black Musketeers.
