Fraas' Lizard (Lacerta fraasii) is a species of lizard in the
Lacertidae family. It is found in Lebanon and possibly Syria. Its
natural habitat is rocky areas. It is threatened by habitat loss.
Lizards are a widespread group of squamate reptiles, with nearly
3800 species, ranging across all continents except Antarctica as
well as most oceanic island chains. The group, traditionally
recognized as the suborder Lacertilia, is defined as all extant
members of the Lepidosauria (reptiles with overlapping scales),
which are neither sphenodonts (i.e., tuatara) nor snakes.
