In that capacity, Carrillo led McCain's investigations of the Jack Abramoff tribal lobbying scandal and the Boeing tanker scandal, which McCain referred to extensively throughout his campaign.Carrillo served, as The Washington Monthly described in May 2006, as "McCain's wingman on Indian Affairs," as his Chief Investigative Counsel on the Senate Indian Affairs Committee.
