It is often, as here, considered part of the genus Periparus (which many authorities, lumping still more, consider a subgenus of Parus). The following species have been placed in it: The tits, chickadees, and titmice constitute Paridae, a large family of small passerine birds which occur in the northern hemisphere and Africa.
