Podlene [pdln] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Braniewo, within Braniewo County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland, close to the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia. It lies approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) north-east of Braniewo and 79 km (49 mi) north-west of the regional capital Olsztyn. Before 1945 the area was part of Germany (East Prussia). The village has a population of 283. Gmina Braniewo is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Braniewo County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland, on the border with Russia. Its seat is the town of Braniewo, although the town is not part of the territory of the gmina. The gmina covers an area of 306.93 square kilometres (118.5 sq mi), and as of 2006 its total population is 6,400.
