Rhythmias (Paperback)

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Rhythmias is an extinct genus of prehistoric bony fish that lived during the Upper Miocene subepoch. The Late Miocene (also known as Upper Miocene) is a sub-epoch of the Miocene Epoch made up of two stages. The Tortonian and Messinian stages comprise the Late Miocene sub-epoch. The sub-epoch lasted from 11.608 0.005 Ma (million years ago) to 5.332 0.005 Ma. The Miocene is a geological epoch of the Neogene Period and extends from about 23.03 to 5.33 million years before the present (23.03 to 5.33 Ma). The Miocene was named by Sir Charles Lyell. Its name comes from the Greek words (mei n, "less") and (kainos, "new") and means "less recent" because it has 18% fewer modern sea invertebrates than the Pliocene. The Miocene follows the Oligocene Epoch and is followed by the Pliocene Epoch. The Miocene is the first epoch of the Neogene Period.
