The Sord M5 (also sold in the United Kingdom and other countries by Computer Games Limited as the CGL M5), was a Japanese home computer launched by Sord Computer Corporation in 1982. Sord Computer Corporation was a Japanese electronics company, founded in 1970 by the entrepreneur Takayoshi Shiina. In the 1980s, Sord was known for 8-bit home computers (especially the Sord M5). Eventually, the company launched more advanced models, such as the "luggable" personal computer Sord M23P (1983) and the notebook Sord IS-11 (1984). In 1985, Sord began to work with Toshiba Corporation. 1999 saw the company become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Toshiba and re-named as Toshiba Personal Computer System Corporation (TOPS for short).
