URP (Russian: ) was a Black-Hundredist counter-revolutionary, nationalist, monarchist and antisemitic political organization in the Russian Empire. Founded in October-November 1905 in Petersburg, soon it has grown into a nation-wide party which united reactionary representatives of urban petty bourgeoisie, landowners, nationalist intelligentsia, clergy, urban declass s, workers and peasantry. Activities of URP were suspended with the February Revolution of 1917.The idea to create the union came from several public figures of Russia who entered its political arena after the 1905 Russian Revolution. On 30 October O.S. 17 October] 1905 the October Manifesto was issued, allowing the formation of political parties. Five days after Alexander Dubrovin called a meeting at his home attended by Vladimir Purishkevich, A. A. Maikov (a son of poet Apollon Maykov), Bulatsel, Baranov, Vladimir Gringmut and some others.
