The two stars are approximately 196 light years from the Earth, (parallax of 16.68 mas) and have an orbital period of 17.77 days. Flamsteed did not designate this star Bayer Cha. as number 46th of Andromeda in his star catalogue and atlas. He erroneously designated " " for his 49th of Andromeda (Bayer's "A" And).
