Dead Man's Price (Paperback)

Marshal Enrique Sanchez is a decent guy with a lot of problems. He's hired himself out as peace officer in a small Arizona town, populated by wealthy Anglos, who assume all Hispanics are lazy and not too bright. The murder, on his watch, of a talented Navajo artist is producing thunder and lightning from Phoenix north to the Big Rez. A second murder of a successful art dealer occurs, and the marshal's weakened authority begins to crumble like neglected adobe. A snarl of reluctant witnesses pull rank on him. His only clue is an evil fetish of unknown origin, and he's having a hell of a time keeping his hands off la chica rubia, who could be the killer. Dead Man's Price combines the exotic landscape of the Sonoran Desert with intriguing characters to build a strong story that ends with a bittersweet conclusion.
