Mariella L. Pechero-Loewen is first generation born in the United States. Her parents married and emigrated from Argentina. In 1999, she met and married her loving husband, Matt Loewen, a family physician. After encountering numerous unsuccessful fertility attempts, it was no surprise when they decided to adopt. Deciding to adopt came as natural as deciding where to adopt from, as both their grandmothers were born in Russia.
