Five samples of Jatropha curcas seeds collected from different parts of Nigeria were analyzed for physical characteristics, nutrient requirement, oil content and chemical composition.The research work is to evaluate and compare the physical, nutrient requirement in the shell and chemical properties of seeds among five landraces of Jatropha curcas in Nigeria. The non-edible vegetable oil of Jatropha curcas has the requisite potential for providing a promising and commercially viable alternative to diesel oil since it has desirable physico-chemical and performance characteristics comparable to diesel.
