Dear Sir,?The Chamber of Commerce, having appointed a Committee to examine into the present system of our Quarantine regulations, I take the liberty to ask from you a reply to the following questions :? What restrictions, if any, should be placed on passengers or others, arriving from infected ports ? Also on baggage, and the necessary purification ? Also on merchandise of a hazardous character, and on that considered not hazardous? and what process or length of time may be considered requisite for the purification of merchandise ? The Committee are anxious to discharge the important duties confided to them, and by all means protect the city from the introduction of any pestilential disease that can be avoided; at the same time it is perfectly obvious that no unnecessary obstruction should impair the commerce of this great city.
