As a German scholar, the author discusses the appropriation that the School of Frankfurt has made of Walter Benjaminbs thinking. The philosopherbs ways of writing and thinking, Sigrid Wiegel states, cannot be separated from the dominance of the image and that makes it topical at the present time. Weigel approach is based on a new reading of Freudbs works and the cultural paradigms of sexual difference and cultural memory. Also in the light of M. Foucaultbs and J. Kristevabs theories, benjaminian texts acquire a new legibility.
