Ray Winstone stars in this anthology of stories written by H. G. Wells. The series begins with 'The Late Mr. Elvesham', a tale of a student who chooses wealth over youth. 'The Devotee of Art' sees the lengths to which an artist will go to achieve perfection. 'The Moth' follows the story of a professor who descends into madness after the sudden death of his rival. Finally, 'The Purple Pileus' is a cautionary tale of marriage as a shopkeeper reveals his fantasies about killing his wife.
