Real Music Of The Wild Vol. 8 (DVD)

The beguiling sounds from Real Music of the Wild is supported by wildlife images, captured in slow motion. In tandem they praise the first drops of desert rain - glorify the sanctity of motherhood - salute the courage of survival and yet, acknowledge the brutality of life in the wild. A reverent musical picture of the dark continent, its great desert sands, its expansive savannah, and the soul of its abundant wildlife.

In search of the musical pulse of Africa, Stephan van der Merwe identified a group of local street musicians and, in unison with the compelling voices of the Soshanguve Black Tycoons, a musical score unrivalled in wildlife documentaries was composed. The final result interlaces the sound of harmonious voices and ethnic instruments to the beat of the wild. Indigenously Africa!

Stephan created a stirring new composition especially for this album. FLIGHT OF THE ELEPHANT juxtaposes time honoured rhythms and contemporary panache with the harsh reality confronting Africa's largest animal today.
