Spectacular Voyage: Lewis and Clark in Nebraska, Iowa and South
Dakota offers readers a chance to join the Corps in early July,
1804, as the Missouri River turns north and twists along the Loess
Hills, Clark's "bald pated prairies." In this 60 days they faced
deadly storms, made their first contact with natives, and found
death in the wilderness. The second half of the book offers an
"insider's guide" to the region today, directing you to the places
Lewis and Clark stood, and to the places of interest to today's
traveler. The tours are separated into sections matching the weekly
chapters of the expedition, and includes local museums, monuments,
and special events. Shops, restaurants, places to stay and places
to see are also included in the guide.
