This book presents an experiment conducted with first year students learning English as a foreign language at the University of Khenchela. It illustrates the positive effects, the exposure to authentic materials, could have on learners performance in writing.This book offers a detailed study including the different stages of the experiment. It describes the different authentic materials used in this study and the planned activities. The experiment compares the scores of a control and an experimental group.At the end, we compared the results of the pre and the post-test of both groups. The interpretation of the results showed the positive effect the use of the authentic materials had on learners achievement in writing. Authentic materials such as films, songs and newspapers in English triggered students' motivation and helped them in improving their writing.
