Thiago Alcantara do Nascimento (born 11 April 1991), known simply asThiago, is a Spanish football player. He currently plays as a centralmidfielder for FC Barcelona. His vision, ball control and passingabilities have made him one of the most promising young players inEurope.

FC Barcelona - Early career
On 17 May 2009, aged 18 years old, Thiago made his debut with the firstteam when he came on as a substitute for Eiour Guojohnsen in the 63rdminute against RCD Mallorca. On 20 February 2010, after coming on as asubtitute for Yaya Toure in the 76th minute, Thiago scored his firstgoal for Barcelona's first team in a 4-0 win against Racing deSantander at the Camp Nou. His second goal came in a game against UDAlmeria on 9 April 2011, to make the score 2-1. He scored his thirdgoal against Real Sociedad in a start. He ended the 2010-11 season with17 games, three goals, and three assists under his belt. On 29 June2011, Thiago signed a contract renewal keeping him at Barcelona until30 June 2015, with a buyout clause of 30 million Euro's.

2011-12 season
Thiago started the 2011-12 in the first leg of the Spanish Supercopamatch against rivals Real Madrid being substituted by Xavi after 58minutes. He then scored on Barcelona's first La Liga match of theseason in a 5-0 home thriller against Villarreal CF.
