L-Arginine is synthesised from glutamine, glutamate, and proline in humans and is a substrate for the enzyme nitric oxide synthase. L-Arginine also plays a role in protein synthesis and maintaining tissue integrity.
Adults 18 years and older: Take 2 – 4 capsules twice daily on an empty stomach.
Each capsule contains the following active ingredient: 700mg L-Arginine hydrochloride (equivalent to 579 mg L-Arginine)
Inactive ingredients: Hypromellose, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate and magnesium silicate.
Sugar-free.
Suitable for vegetarians.
If you suffer from a cardiovascular disease, consult your healthcare practitioner for use beyond 6 weeks, or if your cardiovascular condition worsens. Contraindications Myocardial Infarction: There is some concern that L-arginine might worsen the outcome in individuals following a myocardial infarction. Pre-existing cancers: There is preliminary evidence that arginine supplementation could accelerate the growth of certain pre-existing cancerous conditions known as melanomas or hepatocellular carcinomas. Product Interactions Antihypertensive medicines: Concomitant use might cause additive anti-hypertensive effects, use with caution. Nitrates: Concomitant use might cause additive anti-hypertensive effects, use with caution. Sildenafil: Concominant use might result in additive vasodilation and cause hypotension, use with caution. Special Precautions Herpes Virus: L-Arginine could exacerbate this condition, as L-arginine may be necessary for viral replication. Surgery: L-Arginine may affect blood pressure and should be discontinued at least 2-weeks before elective surgical procedures. Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Safety in pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established.
