I Am with You Always (Paperback)

From a very simple early childhood in Ukraine, in a family that cherished its Catholic Faith and taught well by example, a seed was planted in a young boy for a priestly vocation. Family tragedy became the impetus for young Stephen to leave his family and simple village and pursue an education, which would become the foundation for his priestly ministry. The path wasn't always straight and had many detours, particularly during the difficult period surrounding World War II, but always, there seemed to be a guiding hand, directing the course, sometimes rather dramatically. In 1948, at age 24, Stephen crossed the Atlantic and arrived in his new home, the United States, and continued his seminary formation, culminating in priestly ordination in 1952. Multiple and varied pastoral assignments provided a wealth of experience and personal fulfillment. In early 1981, Stephen was raised to the position of Archbishop-Metropolitan for Ukrainian Catholics in Philadelphia, and remained in this role for more than 20 years, shepherding his flock with love and care, and serving the Church he loves so well. At age 75, following Church law, he offered his resignation to the Holy Father, and now lives in retirement, always ready to see what the Lord has in mind for him.
