An Introduction to Ada - Video

Ada is set to be the major programming language of the 1990's for most scientific, engineering and real-time applications. This videotape course and book introduces the practising computer programmer to this powerful and exciting new language in an innovative and visually appealing manner. The videotape is structured as a 'video book' in a development of the approach which won its author, together with its director (John Webster), the Gold Award at the 1983 New York International Film and TV Festival, and takes the viewer through a series of linked 'modules' which together give a thorough introduction to the essential features of Ada. The book supplements the video with each chapter corresponding to one module of the video and provides additional details of the language together with exercises to develop the viewer/reader's understanding of the principles introduced. Although it does not attempt to cover the more advanced and sophisticated features of Ada, the video and book together will greatly ease the problem of converting to a new language, while at the same time providing an enjoyable taste of what it can do.
