Through Life Avionics Symposium - A New Way to Procure Avionics/Electronics (Paperback)

Avionics Proceedings; The UK Ministry of Defence in collaboration with the Royal Aeronautical Society seeks to stimulate discussion on how avionics (and indeed electronics) should be procured and managed in future. This symposium focused on the increasing difficulties of economically maintaining up-to-date avionic systems. On both sides of the Atlantic there is broad agreement in the avionics industry that the military strategy for updating avionics has to change. Presenters offered their innovative ideas on how to provide affordable, upgradeable avionics. Industrial presenters are invited to be forthright and provocative. The aim of the symposium was to stimulate changes to avionic procurement strategies in order to move toward solutions, which are both capable and supportable over the long term. The symposium also covered modification to civil aircraft and the implications of CNS/ATM to military aircraft. The symposium also covered economic issues as well as technical matters and the need for through-life affordability was stressed.
