The role of computers in the practice of clinical medicine will increase dramatically by the end of the 20th century. There is little doubt that many physicians, while well aware of the existence of computing in general, have only limited knowledge of how it will affect their own practice. The aim of this book is to provide a basic understanding of computers and their place clinical medicine for all physicians who are currently involved with computers, even in a relatively limited way.;The book is divided into eight chapters, the first of which provides a simplified account of the current technology, and an understanding of some of the more commonly used jargon.
