The State treasurer, State auditor and attorney general shall be ex officio inspectors of the penitentiary, either two of whom shall constitute a quorum, with full power to do any act required of them as such inspectors, Employment of Sec. 1612. It shall also be the duty of the warden to classify convicts. tne convicts in their labor and he shall use his best en deavors to the end that the expenses of the penitentiary may be paid out of the proceeds of the labor of convicts, when employed in manufacturing or otherwise, on behalf of the State, and shall act under the direction of the inspectors in making contracts for the employment of the labor of the convicts.
