Mr. McKernan moved to lay his motion to reconsider on the table; Which was agreed to. Mr. McKernan, from the Committee on Permanent Seat of Government, submitted the following report: Mr. Speaker: The Committee on Permanent Seat of Government to whom was referred House bill No. 437, Have had the same under consideration, and have carefully considered the same, and respectfully recommend that it do pass; Which was read. House bill No. 437, entitled An act to supply the capitol and other buildings belonging to the State with gas, Was taken up. Mr. Ruark offered the following amendment: Amend section 2 of the bill by striking out after the word "aforesaid," I he words "fifty per cent, in addition to," Was read and agreed to. Mr. Moore moved to refer the bill to the Committee on Ways and Means. Mr. Browning demanded the previous question; Which was seconded, and the main question ordered. Being upon agreeing to I lie motion of Mr. Moore to refer the bill to the Committee on Ways and Means; It was disagreed to. Mr Smy the offered the following amendment: Add at the end of section 2: 'provided further, that the gas furnished be of a standard strength of 14 standard candles," Which was read and agreed to.
