Wherever they struck the earth a new golden flower grew in time. Every spring these brave golden flowers return to the earth. In the beginning theyhave long swordlike leaves to remind us that the brave knight fought first with his sword. Later they are covered with silver arrows which they shoot in every direction. We call this flower the dandelion, but its first name was the Knight of the Silver Arrows, and the motto of both knight and flower remains ever the same, Dare, Dare, and Dare Again YOUNG DANDELION Young Dandelion On a hedge side, Said young Dandelion, Who ll be my bride? 3-10, 145 Drive me from garden. In anger and pride, I ll thrive and harden By the roadside. Not a bit fearful, Showing my face, Always so cheerful In every place, Said young Dandelion, With a sweet air, I have my eye on Miss Daisy fair.
