Instruction for Field Artillery (Hardcover, New ed of 1861 ed)

William F. Barry, Henry J. Hunt, and William H. French were the authors of this manual used by both sides throughout the Civil War. Hunt was chief of artillery in the Army of the Potomac, and Barry served on Sherman's staff in a similar capacity. Their ideas expressed in this book, together with their services during the war, were in a large measure responsible for the efficiency of the Union artillery.
