La Besita was whelped March I0, I9I0, consequently, at this writing (May, I9I8) she is past eight years of age, although she is said to be in the same good condition as in her palmiest days, and during the past winter was hunted by her owner as regularly as ever. Fred Stephenson died in September, I9I8, lamented by all who knew him. His dogs, among them La Besita, were quartered at the kennels of Fred Colvin, Ruston, La. What will be their final disposition is not yet known at this writing (May, I9I9.) La Besita was bred by J. L. Rynearson on his farm at Wolf Island, Mo. She is small, but a perfectly formed bitch with running gear that denotes power. Her head is good, but not quite deep enough in muzzle, chest superb, spring of ribs in proportion to her size and loin and quarters of tremendous power. She became the property of Fred M. Stevenson when a very young puppy and as soon as she was old enough to go into the field, was sent to Beazell, who at that time was located on the Stephenson place in Mississippi. Her dam was El Beso, a bitch that Mr. Rynearson purchased of the late Thos. Johnson, of Winnipeg, to use for shooting. El Beso was herself a very high-class...
