The report of the subcommittee was not acted upon at the meeting of the full committee on Friday, because, as we are informed, a representative of the Columbia road asked that no action be taken pending legislation in the House to extend that road over a valuable part of the territory now occupied by the charter of the District of Columbia Suburban Railway. In this connection we bug to state for your information that last May, when the commit tec, of the House was considering the extension of the charter for the District of Columbia Suburhan Railway, the representatives of the Columbia road opposed the extension and used every argnment against it; and when they discovered that the full committee intended to make a unanimous report in favor of extending the charter of the District of Columbia Suburban Knilway, asa last resort they introduced in the House a bill to extend the Columbia road along the Bladensburg pike, which was already covered in the franchise of the District of...
