The Book of Sorrow (Paperback)

The book is a collection of poems dealing with various themes, emotions and mental states, the overarching, unifying idea being sadness. There is negative sadness, the kind that is usually associated with some kind of traumatic experience; the kind that makes one shun the world at large. However, there is also positive sadness, the kind that makes one get out of a seemingly hopeless situation; the kind that rejuvenates the mind toward better possibilities. In both cases, the need and desire to overcome oneself is readily apparent. The poems aspire to highlight these instances.
Vasile Munteanu earned a B.A. and an M.A. degree in English and American Literature from Oakland University in Michigan and a Ph.D. in Philosophy, Interpretation and Culture from State University of New York at Binghamton. For the past several years he has taught Literature and Philosophy at the College of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas. He is also the recent author of Godmaker, The Book of Aloneness, The Book of Remembrance, Chandala, The Unthough, Forgotten Words (Translations from the Romanian), The Book of Intentions, The Book of Insistence and The Book of Longing.
