This piece (as reported) was literally translated from the German, by a Mr. Meyres, a miniature painter, who put it into the hands of Mr. HayLey. This gentleman, on the decease of Mr. Meyres, improved the piece to the best of his ability; and brought it out for the benefit of Mr. Meyres's family, but as it was performed only a few nights, it did not answer the benevolent purpose. Apr 17 18. THE INTRIGUES OF A MORNING; Or, AN HOUR IN PARIS, a Farce, of two acts, by Mrs. Parsons. Performed for Mrs. Mattocks's benefit, but not repeated. April 21, 3792. THE IRISHMAN IN LONDON; Or, THE HAPPY AFRICAN, a Farce, in two acts. Partly an alteration by Mr. Macready, for Mr. Johnson's benefit, and performed for several succeeding benefits, till at last the Manager espoused it; and, notwithstanding his right to all benefit pieces, he liberally rewarded the author. Mr. Johnson's inimitable performance of the Irishman, rendered this Farce a standing dish. May 10. JUST IN TIME, an Opera, by Mr. HurlStone. Performed for Mr. Munden's benefit, with applause, and afterwards repeated for the house with alterations. May 15. A CURE FOR A COXCOMB; Or, THE BEAU BE-DEVIL'D, a dramatic piece. Meerly calculated to serve a benefit by the introduction of some of Dibdin's and Colins's sono-s o The beginning of this season (Sept. 2C, 1791), introduced Mr. FAWCETto Covens-Garden boards.
