And the Treasurer is of opinion that, with the aid of the contingent fund applicable to this object, there will be little or no eventual loss upon any of the assessments, or upon notes taken therefor, with a pledge of the stock as collateral. The whole of the State Scrip authorized to be issued to the Corporation under the Acts of 1838 and 1839, has been received amounting to $3,300,000 And there had been sold in England at the date of the last advices prior to Jan. 1, and drawn for $1,463,555 56 And the Treasurer of the Corpora-tion has drawn upon the Agents against the balance of Scrip un-sold, and in anticipation of sales, 657,423 60--2,120,979 22 The Scrip sold, has been difposed of at from par to 4 per cent, advance. Sinking Fund. At the close of 1839, the sinking fund amounted to And there was paid to it by the Treasurer in 1840, from the premium on State Scrip sold, and on Exchange, .......
