We have used this series in our homeschool for all three of our children. These colourful hardback readers contain pretty pictures that engage the child. The level of difficulty increases with each book, whilst new words are slowly introduced at a pace that children can cope with. The method uses high frequency words. The Ladybird website explains the method very well. It is a well-researched method that has been used for many years, and it works. I use Ladybird Keywords in combination with a phonics approach to teach my children to read. This set is economical, 6 books in a box. One odd thing about the set is book c in the series. The book is meant for written exercise, but it is slightly difficult for little hands to write in the books. The space is big enough, but the binding of a small hardcover is tight, so we did them orally. There are other larger, softcover workbooks available in the series.
