This New Day (Paperback)

This poem describes a man who is an unlikely candidate for change - a man we all know: "You know the headlines of him/What he thinks about flag burners, immigrants and criminals/But some of him requires deeper reading/To get to the core of him" - a man we all have written off never to change. But, God does things in people we have given up on. Through things we never expect, in ways we never expect, sometimes His Spirit will land on someone and suddenly, though it's only a small outward sign, something deep and foundational within him or her has shifted. This poem describes one of those simple moments when a man we might give up on opens the door, just a crack, to love.
