Tarzan and the Tarzan Twins is a fabulous Tarzan book written by Edgar Rice Burroughs for younger readers. The Tarzan Twins, two schoolboys, Dick and Doc, are cousins who resemble each other because their mothers are twins. As Dick is also related to Tarzan through his father, they become known as the Tarzan Twins. Invited to visit Tarzan's African estate, they become lost in the jungle and are imprisoned by cannibals, from whom they escape. They are then reunited with their host, who introduces them to his pet lion, Jad-bal-ja. Subsequently, they become involved in an adventure involving exiles from the lost city of Opar, who have kidnapped Gretchen von Harben, the daughter of a missionary.
Blast off into the unknown with this collection of ten classical works of science fiction and fantasy. Long before we ventured into outer space or explored the most remote regions of the planet, writers have spun stories of what might lie in those unknown worlds, or what awaits humanity in the future. Classic Tales of Science Fiction & Fantasy is a collection of ten novels and short stories that blazed the trail for the popular genre. Works by acclaimed authors such as Jules Verne, H. G. Wells, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Jack London, and H. P. Lovecraft will transport the reader to distant places and times-and set the imagination ablaze!
Experience the original stories of Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan and all of his adventures in the jungle in Tarzan of the Apes and The Return of Tarzan. Tarzan of the Apes (1912) and The Return of Tarzan (1913) recount the adventures of John Clayton, a man who was raised by apes after the death of his parents. Clayton was renamed "Tarzan" by the apes, and grew up in the wild without knowledge of his humanity. Even today, Tarzan remains a classic character who is still present in modern fiction. Both of these novels are picture perfect examples of American pulp fiction, portraying Tarzan as the quintessential strong, wild, able-bodied hero; always ready for adventure or to save those close to him. Tarzan of the Apes and The Return of Tarzan by Race Point Publishing is elegantly designed, coming in a clothbound edition which also features an elastic closure and a new introduction by Darren Harris-Fain.
Civil War veteran John Carter is transported to a dying planet,
where he must elude capture by giant green barbarians to rescue a
Martian princess from certain doom. In this landmark of science
fiction, the myths and mystery of the red planet supply a vibrant
backdrop for a swashbuckling epic.
Widely known as the creator of Tarzan of the Apes, Edgar Rice Burroughs was also one of America's most imaginative writers of science fiction. This tale of the amazing world of Pellucidar is a fine example of that genre. Discovered by two men who travel to the center of the earth in a bizarre mechanical device, Pellucidar is a land of perpetual noon--where time does not exist. It is also home to gallant heroes, lovely maidens, horrifying villains; and savage, prehistoric beasts. How the inhabitants of this strange land survive in a Stone Age level of development is revealed in a gripping adventure that will thrill countless readers partial to exotic locales and heart-pounding excitement. Unabridged republication of the edition published by Grosset & Dunlap, New York, 1923.
