Through collaboration with the dowager Queen Elizabeth Woodville,
Margaret agrees a betrothal between Henry and Elizabeth's daughter,
thereby uniting the families and resolving the Cousins War once and
for all by founding of the Tudor dynasty.

A unique guide to every aspect of putting on your own solo show:
choosing the subject, raising the finance, booking the venue - and
performing it! More and more actors - faced with ever longer
periods of unemployment - are turning to the solo show as a way of
keeping active, keeping visible, and keeping the wolf from the
door! This book is essential reading for anyone contemplating such
a move, and comprehensively covers every aspect of putting on your
own one-person show. Being a veteran of the solo-show circuit, as a
writer, performer and director, Gareth Armstrong is the ideal
guide. He takes you step by step through each stage of the process:
Choosing the right material - or devising your own Raising the
finance Finding the venues Hiring a bookings manager and other
personnel Arranging publicity Winning an audience There is a
special section on that mecca for solo shows, the Edinburgh Fringe,
and an extensive appendix covering funding bodies, venues,
festivals and more. Throughout the book, Armstrong illustrates his
points with case studies of actual solo shows by performers such as
Miriam Margolyes, Linda Marlowe and Guy Masterson. 'So You Want To
Do A Solo Show? is a thorough, meticulous, hands-on, "how-to-do"
manual, covering everything from the germination of an idea right
through to the costing of the flyers. It is, I think, the most
valuable read for any performer who has ever thought "If only I
could have some control over the way my career is going."' Maureen

Derek Brock's father-in-law was an irascible and legendary country
publican at the 16th century Six Bells Inn at Penmark, who expected
his son-in-law to follow in his footsteps. Despite his inexperience
of the bar trade, young Brock rather liked the idea of dispensing
pints to the locals. He hadn't bargained, though, for the three
dozen Cuckoo Maran hens, six store cattle, three sows and litters,
and a varied assortment of other livestock that went with the job.
Little wonder, perhaps, that his father-in-law had retired early
with heart trouble!
Sir Alfred Dreyfus, eminent headmaster of one of the greatest
schools in England, is found guilty of a heinous crime. When Sam
Temple, literary agent, visits Dreyfus in prison, he finds a man
sunk beyond despair. As Dreyfus begins, reluctantly, the appalling
narrative of his betrayal, he must confront, too, his own guilt for
a lifetime's denial of his Jewish origins. Bernice Rubens has
created a character of profound and moving humanity; in placing him
at the end of the 20th century, she makes his story a tragedy
resonating with historical tragedy and bound in with the fate of
six million others.

Simon Weston's life was blown apart when his ship was bombed during
the Falklands conflict on 1982. Many of his friends died in the
blast and fire that followed. This book sees Weston at last lay his

who bombed the Sir Galahad have strengthened his conviction that
there are no winners in a war. In a third and final return to the
islands, Simon confronts the magnitude of loss and bids goodbye to
the old self he left behind. It really is time to move on.

In 1612, Shakespeare gave evidence at the Court of Requests in
Westminster -- providing us with the only surviving record of his
spoken words. The case seems routine -- a dispute over an unpaid
marriage-dowry -- but it opens up an unexpected window into the
dramatist's famously obscure life-story. Charles Nicholl applies a
powerful biographical magnifying glass to this fascinating but
neglected episode in Shakespeare's life. Drawing evidence from a
wide variety of sources, he conjures up a detailed and compelling
description of the circumstances in which Shakespeare lived and
worked. This atmospheric exploration of Shakespeare at 40 sees him
not from the viewpoint of literary greatness, but in the humdrum
and very human context of Silver Street.
The mutant white rat had grown and mated, creating offspring in its
own image. They dominated the others, the dark-furred ones, who
foraged for food and brought it back to the lair. Now the dark rats
were restless, tormented by a craving they could not satisfy. But
the white sluglike thing that ruled them knew. Its two heads weaved
to and fro and stickiness drooled from its mouth as it remembered
the taste of human flesh...
Ben Webster appears to have it all - health, wealth, a beautiful
wife and a thriving business. And then his beloved grandmother
tells him that the family business has been built on the theft of
the birthright of three children orphaned during the war. "Find
them," she says. "I can't die with what your grandfather did on my
conscience." As Ben delves into the past he finds relief from his
own troubles and the thrill of an affair is a welcome distraction.
Sooner or later, however, he must deal with the present and redress
the wrongs of the past.
